Physical retail still growing faster than e-commerce

According to Jason Goldberg and the US Dept of Commerce: “Since 2000, median YoY growth every quarter for US retail has been 4% versus 15.9% for E-Com. In Q3 2021 the pent up demand for physical retail driven by covid, cause retail to grow faster than E-Com for the first time. As of Q2 2022 retail is still growing (slightly) faster than e-com (7.7% YoY growth vs 7.3%)”.





New concept stores are opening and we will see new formats due to new consumer habits. This is a new opportunity for in-store technologies, including digital signage, automated check-out solutions, retail analytics and new customer experiences focus on create a phygital environment.
